Not that I was dead or something, but this cool new tool is awesome- Windows Live Writer. I’m always a sucker for Microsoft and despite learning it the hard way that they ain’t worth the loyalty, I still fall for their new product releases and beta launches.
Ok, perhaps the very name beta translates to ’screwed up’ software, but there is a certain amount of ’screwing up’ that can be tolerated.
It was hardly a couple of months ago that I downloaded their new IE7 which was an exact copy of the AOL browser. And well, what followed next was evident. My system went into a deep slumber and had to be restarted everytime IE was launched.
This later resulted in the obvious uninstall, but little did I know that the installation of IE7 screwed up my older version. To cut the story short, I had to reinstall my OS and thank you IBM for making that ‘ Access IBM’ button, by far it’s the most respected application launcher on my notebook.
So today, I thought that perhaps I should visit their ‘Live‘ website to see what new ideas they came up with. And I was keenly interested in their Live Writer, which i’m currently using to publish this post and the Live Mail Desktop.
History repeated itself again with the mail application. Ok, the interface looked pretty interesting, but well just like the IE 7 this mail application too almost… almost screwed up my outlook.
So far this Live Writer application seems to be working fine. Touchwood. And if this works, then perhaps I don’t need to login to blogger ever again.
In other news, it was frustrating to hear that Google is now butting into the software development field. How pathetic can it get, and what’s even more sad is the fact that the bigwig Microsoft just seems like it’s too heavy to pull itself ahead.
Not to forget the fact that Apple elected Google CEO Schmidt to it’s board. From the looks of it, perhaps Google might be trying to get into other ventures, or maybe this was a firefighting exercise from the Apple executives to stop Google from developing their Google Music which could very well be pitted against iTunes or the more hidden agenda would be the launch of a….. GTunes, maybe?
Being an ardent fan of Mr. Jobs (and owning a G4Power notebook is and will always be a fantasy) i’m hoping that he’d be able to get his act together and be that aggressive and an unpredictable boss and maybe screw up Schmidt and there by Google, indirectly. I for one would be happy. And if you ask me why I hate Google, well it’s a long story…. another day.
For now, I just hope this application would be able to get my post up.
